Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: January 1, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy (the “AUP”) describes activities that are not permitted when accessing or using Abately’s website, products, or services (the “Services”). It applies to anyone who interacts with the Services, including unregistered visitors and registered users, and is incorporated into our Terms & Conditions.

We may investigate suspected violations and take any action we consider appropriate, including suspending or terminating access, removing content, and reporting unlawful activity to authorities.

1. Lawful and authorized use

You must use the Services only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. You must have the legal right to inquire about any property you submit for analysis. Submitting information about a property you do not own and have no authorization to act for is a violation of this AUP.

2. Prohibited activities

You may not use the Services to:

  • Engage in fraud or deception, including submitting false property information, impersonating a property owner, or misrepresenting facts in any communication with Abately.
  • Harass, threaten, or harm any person — including appraisal district staff, neighbors, or other parties referenced in our analyses.
  • Violate intellectual property rights, including copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other proprietary rights.
  • Distribute malware or any code intended to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to systems or data.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Services or any related system or network without our prior written consent.
  • Circumvent authentication or access controls, including attempting to access accounts, data, or features you are not authorized to access.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Services, or extract underlying datasets, algorithms, or models, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the Services beyond what is exposed by documented APIs or normal user-interface use.
  • Interfere with the integrity or performance of the Services, including through denial-of-service attacks, excessive request volumes, or transmission of malformed data.
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute Abately reports, analyses, or other outputs to third parties without our prior written consent.
  • Use the Services to provide competing services for the benefit of any property owner other than yourself, except under a separate written agreement with Abately.

3. Communications and content

When you submit content through the Services — including questions, feedback, property notes, and supporting documentation — you must not include:

  • Personal information about anyone other than yourself, unless you are authorized to provide it.
  • Confidential information of any third party, including employer or client confidential information.
  • Material that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringes any third-party right.

4. Reporting violations

If you become aware of a violation of this AUP, please report it to us at abuse@abately.com. Provide as much detail as possible so we can investigate.

5. Enforcement

Violations of this AUP may result in:

  • Warning and temporary or permanent suspension of access to the Services.
  • Removal of offending content.
  • Termination of your account and refusal of future service.
  • Reporting to law enforcement and cooperation with investigations.
  • Civil action to recover damages caused by the violation.

We may take enforcement action without notice when we believe doing so is necessary to protect users, the Services, or third parties.

6. Changes to this AUP

We may update this AUP from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
